Texas – restriction on abortion: blocked by the Supreme Court

Publié le 14 Oct, 2014

Latest news on the draft bill restricting abortion in the State of Texas. With this new legislation, clinics carrying out abortions “should basically be subject to the same construction standards as hospitals in terms of surgical practices from this point onwards“.(Gènéthique press review on October 6th, 2014).

In a decree made yesterday, the Supreme Court suspended certain aspects of the bill and authorised the reopening of a dozen clinics practising abortion. This decree “comprising five sentences and with no basic explanation”, has been presented as a “temporary measure” in the legislative process, which has been continuing for one year.
